50 jobs in 50 weeks

Jobs for graduates- from any discipline- are not as plentiful as they were 2 years ago. After 40 failed job interviews, economics graduate Daniel Seddiqui was fed up and decided to experience lots of different jobs in a short amount of time, 50 jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks.

The journey involves Seddiqui experiencing jobs ranging from working as an archaeologist in Arkansas to being a model in North Carolina. Seddiqui is exploring all of the different cultures, environments and careers available in the USA.

Seddiqui is keeping us updated on his whereabouts and experiences on his website – Living in the Map. So far Seddiqui has been offered several permanent jobs and a Hollywood production company are developing a movie about his journey. It seems that unsuccessful interviews are a thing of the past for Saddiqui.

Isn’t it amazing how an uninspiring start to employment can turn into such an adventure and now an almost limitless choice of employment opportunities.

I hope that what is happening will inspire others not to give up, I am not sure I would have the required energy after 40 failed job interviews, but hey you can’t really just give up can you. It isn’t one of the options available, still gotta eat!

Way to go Daniel. Will be sure to check out the exploits at Living in the Map!

My name is Nathaniel, undergrdauate student (senior student) at Forman Christian College ( A Chartered University) Lahore Pakistan, and doing BSC (Hons) in economics. I was really very upset and worried about my career with economics because I did not know where to go and in which specific area I should go for further studies. Due to world’s economic crises I afrraid of high competation rate. Today, suddenly I wrote a sentence ” What economics is all about? ” ( I wrote this sentence does not mean that i did know the deffinition of Economics), as I wrote this little sentence I got all answers of questions which I have in my mind about job, earning and field. So, Please I want that you people keep in touch with me and guide me what should I do further in studies after completing my graduation. I mean in which specific area I should go so that I may get good job with handsome salary. My future’s plan is to do PHD in Economics…. Thanks
    In Christ,
    Nathaniel

A university degree doesn’t guarantee you a secure job in the future with a good pay.

Many graduates think after studying for 3-4 years they will get their dream job and get a huge salary – unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.

Many graduates end up doing something completely different. You have to stand out from the crowd to get noticed.

Do community service, get a part time job just do more to gain some work experience so that you will have a greater change to have a job in the future.
